Hiking in New Zealand

Our flight down to McMurdo was delayed by one day so we had Friday open. We drove down to Arthur’s Pass – about ¾ of the way across the island. We hiked up a mountain in a national park area and had a great time. The landscape and weather reminded me so much of Alaska. The trail was pretty rough cut with very little traversing. We basically went straight up the mountain. We climbed for about two hours and made it just below the edge of the tree line so we were out in the open for some great views just before we turned back.

DISCLAIMER: Don't think "Boy all he's doing is just playing around." Believe me - it will be seven day work weeks until we launch once we are down on the ice.
